Post Game Notes

There were a few things that stuck out to me about the games last night.

The first thing was the fact that the Red Wings gave up one goal with Jimmy Howard in net. He had to face 32 shots on goal and played his best game of the season. He also let in one goal against the Blue Jackets the night before, which tells me that he’s starting to get used to playing at an NHL level.

Another thing that is starting to stick out to me is the once impenetrable Phoenix defense, isn’t stopping the puck like they used to. Bryzgalov isn’t getting the same help that he was at the beginning of the season. The defense is letting the other team take too many good scoring opportunities.

And you know I have to comment on the Boston vs. Florida game. It doesn’t say it up there in the scores, but they went into a shootout tied 0-0. Nobody scored during the first three shots and Florida ended up winning when they scored the first goal of the game in a sudden death shootout. Both teams showed great defense and both goalies played extremely well, in regulation, OT, and the shootout.
