The Vancouver Canucks have gotten to the point in their season that they have been dreading. Over the next month and a half, the Vancouver Canucks will not play a single home game. This is because their arena is being prepped for the Olympics. The next home game will be on March 14th against the Ottawa Senators.

Canuck fans have been a little worried about this road trip. They have been skeptical about the team’s play because they have played a lot of home games so far. It’s being said all over Canuck’s blogs, that this will be the point that determines their season.

The reason everybody’s so worried is because of how the Canucks have done on the road this season. Although they have won 34 games this season, only 11 of those have been on the road. Their home record is 23-7-1 while their road record is only 11-11-1.

It’s obvious that this will have a huge effect on where they finish in the playoffs (yes, the Canucks will make the playoffs). However, I’m not as worried about this road trip as a lot of other bloggers. Here’s why.

Eight of those 11 regulation losses came in October and November, when Luongo was slumping and Daniel Sedin was injured. Since the beginning of December, the Canucks have played a lot better on the road. They have posted a record of 7-3-1 (including tonight’s game) on the road since then.

In general, their play has improved immensely from the beginning of the season. They are now on a seven game winning streak, which is just as many wins as they posted in the entire month of October. This is not the same Canuck team that took the ice at the beginning of the season, and they are playing like they deserve to be on top.
