The LA Kings have set a new franchise record for longest winning streak today. They defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in regulation, after being down 3-0 in the first period. They were in a similar situation with the Ducks during their last game and were also able to comeback and win. You can never count this team out of a game.

However, you have to realize that there were a ton of mistakes by Detroit. The biggest one was the mistake that Howard made when he attempted to stop the puck and pass it behind the net. Instead, the puck went off the heel of his stick and the Kings were able to control the “rebound”.

But, the Wings made other mistakes as well. They weren’t able to control the puck in front of their net, and after the first period, it looked like they just wanted to coast. Unfortunately, this Wings team is not good enough to coast. They do not have the talent, or the chemistry, to sit back on their heels for two periods and expect to come away with a win.

Even though the Wings were leading, they were actually being out-shot by the Kings for the whole game. The Kings just out-worked the Detroit Red Wings and earned a comeback.

However, the Kings do deserve a ton of respect. It’s never easy to win nine straight games, and it’s the first time they’ve done it in franchise history. Over the last two games, they have showed a tremendous amount of fight. A comeback against the Ducks, and another comeback against the Wings make these wins especially rewarding. They haven’t given up when they start to lose, and if anything, losing just makes them work harder.
